Nepal Electricity Authority

Introduction

Located in Siuchatar, Kathmandu Load Dispatch Centre (LDC as commonly known) is the heart of the Integrated Nepal Power System (INPS). It supervises and maintains the quality of the electrical power supplied to the consumers, works towards maintaining balance between demand and supply, and tries to minimize the power interruption. Such supervision and monitoring is done through computer based SCADA system that collects total of around 5,000 nos. of real time data from power stations and substations spread around the country.

With establishment of the new Load Dispatch Centre in mid January 2004 (Magh 1, 2060), a tool is available for a centralised, co-ordinated and optimised operation of the high voltage network.
